Catalyst Fight House is the progeny of Clyde “Eddie” Grant. A life-long martial artist, and Veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom, Eddie has dedicated his life to proficiency in all aspects of Personal Defense and Martial arts. Eddie Began his martial arts before he was 8 years old, and his MMA training in 2001 at the under the expert tutelage of Charles Pearson, growing from recreational student to head coach and gym manager. His students have come from all ranges of life; from 6 year old children to Law Enforcement Professionals, soccer moms to professional athletes and almost everyone in between. In 2010 Eddie decided to explore what life had to offer, and leave his management position in a bid to learn more about who he was, and who he could become. In that time he received his Brown belt under Professor Michael Simpson of Zenith Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, attended various protection and security schools, worked in various levels of security and protection and served honorably in the United States Army Infantry.
“My dedication truly is, and has been, the success of my students. I strongly believe that anyone can grow in martial arts, and that proper, detail orientated training and a team-orientated environment makes a huge impact on who someone is as a person, as well as a martial artist. Hard work is the key to becoming whoever you wish to be, and my passion is introducing you to that person.”
Eddie has a stellar reputation in the martial arts community as a hard working, extremely knowledgeable coach and instructor. His experience in training students for competition on an amateur and professional level stage has helped him develop a superior in-depth self defense program known as Hybrid Combatives, in which he has trained civilians and military personnel alike. It has also given him a strong understanding and dedication to his student’s personal fitness and performance goals. No matter who you are now, or who you hope to be in the near future, Catalyst Fight House can, and will get you there. We strive to be a positive catalyst for all of our students. All you have to do is dedicate yourself, and walk through the door.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art, combat sport, and a self defense system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting. Brazilian jiu-jitsu was formed from Kodokan Judo ground fighting (Ne-Waza) fundamentals that were taught to Carlos Gracie by master Mitsuyo Maeda. Brazilian jiu-jitsu eventually came to be its own art through the experimentations, practices, and adaptation from the Judo knowledge of Carlos and Hélio Gracie, who then passed their knowledge on to their family.

BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using leverage and proper technique, taking the fight to the ground – most notably by applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat the other person. BJJ training can be used for sport grappling tournaments (gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition or self-defense.[4] Sparring (commonly referred to as “rolling”) and live drilling play a major role in training, and a premium is placed on performance, especially in competition, in relation to progress and ascension through its ranking system.

Since its inception in 1914, its parent art of Judo was separated from older systems of Japanese ju-jitsu by an important difference that was passed on to Brazilian jiu-jitsu: it is not solely a martial art: it is also a sport; a method for promoting physical fitness and building character in young people; and, ultimately, a way (Do) of life.[5][6]
