Published on: Dec 21, 2012
Last Week We had a very skilled and TOP World Competitor black belt come teach a week long seminar at BreakingPoint MMA/Cobrinha jiu jitsu in Burlington Ontario, Operated under Dan Hale.
For those of you who don’t know who Laercio is, well to keep it short and straight to the point, he is one of the Top 5 Best BJJ and NoGi Players in his division, and Lost in the Finals at the last IBJJF Worlds to Gui Mendes by Ref Decision. He trains under Giva Santana but also trains and learns under the great Cobrinha in California regularly. You can tell by the style of rolling that they are “associated”. It was like watching Cobrinha on the mats. Osss
He is a Force to be reckoned with, in the 140lbs (Pluma) weight range, and Wouaaah, rolling with him is as terrible and as awesome as it can get. First of Rolling with him is a pure pleasure, very fluid, super strong, amazing grips and transitions, makes great decisions as to what to do on the mats when rolling. I even joked with him saying he feels like a 300lbs guy and he said:” are you calling me fat??” joking along with me and the rest of the class.
I have been watching and observing him and it was a delight to see and feel the huge difference in Game and Style he has to offer. Laercio Makes People from all belt levels and colors look and feel like We just started doing JiuJitsu, it doesn’t matter the speed and intensity you want to go, he will follow and catch you regardless. The good thing about it is that when he does and you have a question as to the what, how and when it happened, he will take the time to stop and explain then roll again. He always has a great attitude on and a smile and always willing to help and make sure you learn but mainly that you understand the concept of the move and your question so that you can apply the answer more efficiently later on.
When I Rolled with him, I Learned a LOT, and so did everyone else that attended the seminar. His attention to details is what made it priceless. Knowledge has no cost, no price.
All in all, it was a great time and a really cool seminar, great ambiance and atmosphere, very welcoming students and Instructor at the BreakingPoint Gym. They just made sure that you felt at ease and that you would learn as much as possible during your stay on the mats. So We would like to thank them for having us and showing us an awesome time and to simply bring an awesome seminar of such quality in our Region.
It is Great to attend as many seminars as possible and also to be able to host them. So If you have the opportunity to either attend seminars or Invite Professor, Competitors to teach a seminar it should be an instant “I AM GOING” Decision.
Here is a an Interview with Prof. Laercio and his insight on the seminar and a little about him.
