Little Nate was 4 years old and every time he went to the dentist he gagged and threw up. The Dentist said “We will wait until he get older to take some X-rays”. He went back when he was 5 and yet they still couldn’t take x-rays. The dentist said we will have to send him to a specialist. This was around the same time he was about to do his first tournament. We bought him a mouth guard and the first time he put it in… He threw up on the floor. We ended up taking him to the specialist and the specialist referred him to sick kids to be put under for dental work.
At this time Nate started to practice wearing his mouth guard every day to get ready for his tournament. After three weeks he was ready to compete and he ended up placing gold and bronze at NAGA. We called the dentist and said that we wanted to have Nate try to get his dental work without being put under. So little Nate wore his mouth guard when he trained at the club and every night when he went home. 7 tournaments later he had his first dental appointment with out being under. This picture is him getting one of his two cavities filled.
And that’s how Jiu Jitsu saved Nate’s teeth :)
